The 39th Street District has persevered as a landmark for the queer community for 39 years in the face danger, fear, and hate. "39 Years on 39th: It's All A Community Effort" highlights that collective labor of the Oklahoma City queer community over the years to provide a safe, inclusive, compassionate space for everyone. The main theme is that of help; we live in some dark, dreadful times, but everywhere you look and everywhere you go, someone is reaching out to someone else. Pride is a microcosm of that human desire to give and receive help. It's a community coming together in an effort to make the world a better place. 39 years of helping. 39 years of community. 39 years of work. And despite what some may want, there's an eternity of helping, community, and work ahead of us."
